The Assignment
Due to increasing demand to drive and implement strategic projects across the organization on all levels, we are searching for ambitious students to join as Strategy and Business Development Intern.
You will be part of the Group CEO Office, working alongside the Strategy Management Teams. You will help to drive and own a dedicated workstream, perform business analyses and provide fact-based recommendations to the CEO, and broader Management team.
This role also provides an opportunity to gain experience with value creation under Private Equity ownership.
We have a range of possible projects in our pipeline that will be assigned based to your personality, study background and development goals. We put a strong focus on feedback, coaching and professional development.

What Are The Objectives of AIP?
Who Is Eligible For An Internship?
Age:
You are at least eighteen (18) years of age on the date of application.
Education:
➢ You are enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate), in a field related to the business of AMK.
➢ Applicants who have already completed a qualification may also qualify for consideration, if they apply to the internship within six months following the completion of the formal qualification.
➢ You have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to starting (bachelor’s level or equivalent) the internship.

You are fluent in English
Family relation:
You are not related to a current AMK Team member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
Nationality:
Must be a Jamaican national
Residence:
Interns living in the preferred or assigned geographic location will be given preference.
Other:
You have not previously participated in AMK’s Internship Programme.

General Information On The AMK Internship Programme (AIP)
Duration: Interns are expected to work between 20 and 40 hours a week during an 8 to 12-week internship period. Internships are offered during the Summer, Fall, and Winter/Spring semesters. Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made between AMK and the intern’s college or university. All interns are subject to the applicable AMK employee rules, including its Employment Dispute Resolution Policy.
Medical And Accident Insurance Coverage: AMK on a case by case basis will provides interns with medical and accident insurance coverage during the duration of the internship period. Where applied insurance coverage before the start date of the internship and after the end date of the internship, including travel to and from the duty station location, is the sole personal and financial responsibility of the individual intern.
Learning Objectives And Goals: We endeavour to work with established tertiary institutions to prepare well-rounded students who are able to meet the requirements of the marketplace giving them on- the-job- experience.
Full Time Employment: Interns also have the opportunity to advance to full time employment with AMK.
Stipend: AMK will provide a stipend to assist interns with transportation and meals during the internship period.
Daily Responsibilities: Interns will be assigned to short and medium-term projects, in addition to Supervised Assignments for special projects. Specific assignments will be given with clear measurable deliverables.
Who will supervise and mentor the intern(s)? A team member from AMK will be assigned to each intern.
What do we want our intern(s) to accomplish during the program? We expect that the experience will close the learning, experience and information gap between classroom learning and real work engagements.
What Will Orientation Entail? A two (2) hour introduction to the company, relevant policies, roles and expectations, evaluations, opportunities after internship etc.
Evaluations.
An introduction evaluation will be done by the assigned supervisor and the intern to establish base lines for performance and deliverables.
This will be followed by weekly evaluations and feedback sessions, conducted with each intern and the assigned supervisor. The conversation will look at how the intern is progressing and contributing, strengths and areas needing growth, and any other feedback for the intern. Required adjustments made for the upcoming week.
Intern will also prepare and present a weekly report on assigned project status and ask questions.
The intern will also prepare and present an evaluation of their time at the organisation.
The intern will also maintain a daily diary of their activities.
An exit interview may also be conducted with the supervisor, intern and two other persons, one from the intern’s tertiary institution and the other from AMK’s Human Resource team. Questions will be asked on all sides to gather feedback on the program and the intern’s experience.
Based on the outcome of the exit interview, Interns may be invited to advance to full time employment with AMK.
